Ministry of Education announces model for primary and secondary schools to return to school!

31/12/2021

The Ministry of Education has announced the pattern of return to school for primary and secondary schools, with the first, second and sixth grades returning to school as a group.

According to a message issued by Education Minister Razgiddin, the first, second and sixth grades will return to school as a group from January 9 or 10. The third, fourth and fifth grades will continue to return to school on a rotating basis.

In secondary schools, students in Prep, S4, S5, S6 and University Preparation will return to school en masse, while students in S1, S2 and S3 will return to school on a rotational basis. Schools with less than 90% vaccination coverage will continue to use the rotating pattern.

In addition, micro schools with fewer than 300 students will be able to use the group return model.

The Ministry of Education is allowing first and second grade students to return to school as a group so that students can consolidate the basic curriculum, while sixth grade students can return to school as a group so that students can be prepared before entering secondary school.

The Ministry of Education also allows students to continue to wear casual clothes to class, as long as they are appropriately dressed. Primary and secondary schools in Johor, Kedah, Terengganu and Kelantan will start classes from January 9 (Sunday), while primary and secondary schools in other states will start classes from January 10 (Monday).
