MCMC has begun an investigation into 20 telco complaints, and two telcos have been fined.

Telecommunications businesses were fined a total of RM60,000 by the MCMC!

The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has opened an investigation into 20 cases involving the quality of service provided by telecommunication companies, and has issued two fines to the relevant telecommunication companies, according to the Deputy Minister of Communications and Multimedia in response to a question in Parliament.

Celcom and unifi Mobile were the telcos that got MCMC sanctions. Celcom’s service in Sabah is subpar, and unifi Mobile’s service in Malacca and Pahang is inadequate.

The MCMC examined 3000 locations across the country, including those where coverage concerns had been reported in the previous year. MCMC is now processing one RM20,000 ticket.

A total of 1,466 network base stations have been upgraded to the 4G network as of January 25. Many network base stations in the United States have yet to be successfully upgraded to 4G networks. The improvement effort has been hampered by the flood that occurred at the end of last year.
