The government is considering decreasing the selling price of quick antigen test kits from RM20 to RM10.

The government is considering bringing the selling price of quick antigen test kits down to RM10.

The government is now looking into lowering the retail ceiling price of quick antigen test kits from RM19.90 to RM10.00, according to the Minister of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs.

The Minister of Trade and Consumer Affairs noted out that the market pricing for quick antigen detection kits is now lower than the highest price, with kits available for RM5 or RM4.80.

The outbreak of the Omicron virus in our country resulted in a lack of test kits on the market. The Ministry of Trade and Consumer Affairs will keep a close eye on the supply shortage and work to resolve it.

The Malaysian Medical Devices Authority (MDA) has certified 125 fast test kits that are confirmed for Covid-19 testing as of March 10.

In general, collecting nose samples, collecting oral samples, and collecting double samples are the three types of kits available on the market. People are encouraged to read the instructions carefully before purchasing kits so that they can more properly determine whether or not they have been diagnosed.
