According to National Bank, the MYR to SGD exchange rate fell to a new low of 3.2124 at one point on 24 May at around 11 a.m., down from 3.1964 the previous week. At 5 p.m., the rate was 3.1930.
The MYR also fell to 4.3960 and then hovered around 4.3910. The MYR is generally expected to fluctuate between 4.3900 and 4.3950 against the USD at 5pm.
With the Malaysian dollar hitting a new low against the Singapore dollar, many people queued up to exchange their Singapore dollars for Malaysian dollars. According to a money changer in the Selangor area, one Singapore dollar can be exchanged for MYR3.171, while one US dollar can be exchanged for MYR4.367.
