Last year, 20 million tourists arrived in Malaysia, bringing in $71.3 billion in revenue.

Tourism, Arts and Culture Ministry Khairul Firdaus Akbar Khan said the country saw 20.1 million tourist arrivals to Malaysia last year, generating RM71.3 billion in tourism revenue.

He said the Ministry of Tourism was looking at 27.3 million tourist arrivals this year and projected RM102.7 billion in tourism revenue.

“For 2025, we are looking at 31.4 million tourist arrivals with a projected tourism revenue of RM125.5 billion.

“As for the Year of Tourism Malaysia 2026, we are looking at 35.6 million tourist arrivals to Malaysia for tourism, bringing in RM147 billion in tourism revenue.”

Khairul Firdaus Akbar Khan replied as such to a question from PKR Doo Yalan MP Wilfred Madius Tangau during the question-and-answer session in the Lower House of Parliament today.

He also said that the data showed that 80% of the total tourist arrivals to Malaysia were from the ASEAN countries.
