Khairy believes Omicron outbreak can’t be prevented, DOH can only slow down the outbreak of the epidemic!

06/01/2022

The Ministry of Health believes that the Omicron outbreak will sooner or later break out in the country, and all the government can do now is to take measures to slow down the Omicron wave.

Health Minister Kerry said at a press conference on the afternoon of January 6 that the Ministry of Health cannot stop the Omicron outbreak, and that all it can do now is to slow down the Omicron wave, such as suspending the approval of pilgrimages.

Carey said the government would not consider closing the border or sealing off the city, because it would be costly, including the economy and mental illness. Carey believes it is time to move forward, not backward, and if the closure restrictions are to be implemented, how long will it take to do so.

Although Omicron does not have a high lethality rate, it does add to the medical burden, including increased hospitalization and readmission rates. Carey then cites the United Kingdom as an example, where a number of hospitals have been forced to close due to Omicron infections among frontline personnel.

The massive Omicron outbreak in Europe has led to curfews and lockdowns in many cities, as well as a city closure in Xi’an, Shaanxi Province, China, which began last December.
