KUALA LUMPUR: A 13-year-old student drowned in Kampung Talang near Kadok today, becoming Kelantan’s second death of the floodwaters.

Mohamad Fazli Tamri of Kampung Patek was identified as the victim.

The victim was riding his bicycle when the incident occurred at around 6.20 p.m., according to Deputy Kelantan Police Chief Datuk Muhamad Zaki Harun.

“While passing an irrigation canal, the victim suddenly fell from his bicycle and went into the canal.

“His friend, who was with him on another bicycle, tried to rescue him but failed. He then called for help. A search and rescue operation was mounted and the body was discovered later,” he said.

He stated that the SMK Kubang Kiat student’s body was discovered approximately an hour later, about 200 metres from where he went missing.

Meanwhile, Muhamad Zaki said that the body of a 70-year-old man who had been missing since Friday in Kampung Gris near Dabong, Kuala Krai, was discovered today.

He went on to say that at around 7.15 p.m., the body of Mohamad Ishak, the first casualty of the Kelantan floods, was discovered caught amid tree branches inside the Galas river.
