Kedah’s government is still awaiting the results of the Baling flood probe.
According to Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor, the Kedah government is still awaiting reports from the several technical departments looking into the floods and water surge in the Baling district on July 4.
Despite calls for the incident’s cause to be revealed as soon as possible, the government had not established a timetable for the departments to submit their conclusions.
The Department of Environment, Department of Forestry, Department of Drainage and Irrigation, and Department of Minerals and Geoscience have the knowledge and capacity to conduct an appropriate investigation.
The state government was unable to make any judgments prior to the conclusion of the investigation, despite some reports linking the disaster to a Musang King durian plantation project in Gunung Inas.
It is now more important to address any issues harming the victims than it is to point fingers.
The floods in Baling district, which caused more than 1,000 people to lose their homes and took three lives, had an overall impact on 41 different places.
