There is no danger of Sungai Dua LRA being shut down.

The Sungai Dua Water Treatment Plant (LRA), which is close by, is not in danger of closing, contrary to what has been alleged in a number of Facebook posts and messages, according to the Penang Water Supply Corporation (PBAPP).

In a post on its Facebook page, PBAPP stated that it was aware of many messages and uploads that had gained popularity on Facebook and claimed that the high turbidity of raw water from Sungai Muda, Kedah, today would result in yet another work halt at the Sungai Dua LRA.

However, the Sungai Dua LRA has been running at full capacity today, and as of today at 5 p.m., there is no danger of the LRA being shut down, according to a number of data.

The output of processed water at the Sungai Dua LRA is 994 million litres per day, while the raw water turbidity level currently coming from Sungai Muda is 66.7 NTU (Nephelometric Turbidity Unit).

When measuring the amount of particles or suspended matter in water, the NTU is utilised.

The functioning of the Sungai Dua LRA will be impacted if the turbidity of raw water from Sungai Muda surpasses the “safe” threshold, which is periodically monitored by the PBAPP, which also gives an emergency alert in such cases.
