66 people were evacuated from Kunak flood.

After their homes were flooded this morning, 66 persons from 13 families in Kampung Airport Tun Fuad were evacuated to temporary relief shelters.

According to the Sabah emergency management committee secretariat, all flood evacuees were brought to the relief centre at PPS Dewan Kampung Airport Tun Fuad here. Twenty males, 27 women, eight girls, and eleven boys were evacuated.

Kunak is a district on Sabah’s east coast, approximately 470 kilometres east of Kota Kinabalu. Meanwhile, Mohammad Omarbatha, chief of Kunak fire and rescue station, stated when reached that they received a call about the floods at 4.17 a.m.

Firefighters used boats to transport people from flooded regions to the relief centre at Dewan Kampung Airport Tun Fuad. All evacuees were registered, and the Sabah general welfare services department was now in charge of their care.
