Nomination papers will be collected from 9am to 10am on Saturday.

The Election Commission (EC) has announced that nomination papers for the 15th general election (GE15) and state by-election for the Bugaya seat in Sabah would be accepted only from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Saturday.

The papers must be submitted to the Returning Officer at the 222 designated nomination centres, according to EC secretary Datuk Ikmalrudin Ishak. The papers must be submitted by one or two of these individuals: the candidate, the proposer, and the seconder.

To ensure the smooth operation of the nomination process, the EC recommends that potential candidates for the GE15 and Bugaya by-election fill out their forms and conduct a preliminary check at any Returning Officer’s Office or State Election Office worldwide before to nomination day. All potential candidates should pay their deposit as soon as possible and bring their receipt with them to the nomination as proof of payment.

Candidates were also advised to bring the consent letter from the party they represented while submitting their paperwork. Only the candidate, proposer, and seconder will be permitted to attend the nomination centre on nomination day. Their supporters are not permitted to wait or be within 50 metres of the centres.

The use of any musical instruments or loudspeakers for the purpose of political campaigning is prohibited and constitutes an offence under the Election Offences Act of 1954.

The EC also urged all candidates and parties concerned to always follow the laws, rules, and regulations, as well as the code of conduct and instructions provided on nomination day by the EC, police, and local authorities.

The GE15 nomination day is slated on November 5, with early voting beginning on November 15 and polling ending on November 19.
