A 12yo girl was electrocuted while using her phone during a thunderstorm.

Yesterday, a 12-year-old girl who lived close by in Kampung Baru Sungai Raya Luar, Lojing, is thought to have been electrocuted while using a mobile phone at her home. A thunderstorm hit the area at around 4.50 pm, according to Supt Sik Choon Foo, the head of the Gua Musang district police. He claimed that the victim’s father, M Nor Zawawi Awan, reported the event to the police, which alerted them to the incident.

The victim’s father learned that there was a power outage at his home after he had finished his prayers at the adjacent surau. His wife told him that their daughter Nur Asyqin Qistina was unconscious in bed around fifteen minutes later. When Nur Asyqin Qistina’s father went to check on her, he saw burn marks on her arm and bedding. His daughter also had a cellphone in her right hand and a phone charger was close by.

When the victim’s father transported his daughter to the Kuala Betis Health Clinic, she was later declared dead, according to Sik. Investigations revealed no criminal involvement in the girl’s death, and the incident was thought to have taken place after lightning struck the solar inverter at the complainant’s home. Yesterday about 8:00 pm, the victim’s body was transported to the Gua Musang Hospital.
