If a car hasn’t been moved for a while, the tyres are at risk of damage.

Some people prefer to drive a particular car less frequently because they have numerous vehicles or for other reasons. To prevent slight tyre deformation, it is best to move your vehicle a little every few days if it hasn’t been driven for a while.

The tyres will have “flat spots” as a result of the vehicle’s lengthy absence from use and the continued application of heavy pressure to a small area of its four ground-contact tires, which may result in long-term distortion and create a “flat spot.”

The portion of each tyre that is in contact with the ground (which is only the size of a playing card) is going to support the weight of the entire vehicle. This area could become permanently damaged over time, creating a “flat spot” on the tyre. The tyre is not round, in other terms.

Car owners have two options to fix this problem in order to prevent it, including:

1. Move around often. It’s best to allow the vehicle to move from side to side even if you’re just parking it so that the pressure points are changed as the tyres move.

2. Fill it up enough. The compression of the tyre wall is smaller the greater the tyre pressure, so after lengthy parking, the local tyre deformation will also become smaller. This is one of the causes of the consistently higher tyre pressure on new commercial vehicles. It should be mentioned that when refilling the tire, the tyre pressure should not go above the manufacturer’s suggested maximum.
