How to search for short selling data on Malaysian stocks?

28/07/2022

Bursa Malaysia has opened up all short selling measures, this includes both monitored short selling (RSS) and single day short selling (IDSS).

Want to know if your purchases have been short sold? The Malaysian Stock Exchange compiles daily reports of short selling data for the day and also compiles a report of total net short positions. For those who are interested, you can check the website of the Bursa Malaysia Securities Exchange.

You can visit https://www.bursamalaysia.com/market_information/market_statistic/securities and then in the Total Short Selling section, you can see the Total Short Selling and Net Short Position report, which you can download by clicking on it.

Short selling is when a dealer or trader predicts that the price of a stock will fall, so he or she borrows shares from other holders and sells them, then buys them back when the stock falls below the price. The dealer or trader will make a profit on this operation.
