Every year, many young people go to Singapore to work and start a new life. But is working in Singapore really as happy as they imagine? Singapore is the most tired country in the world, ahead of China and Japan, according to a recent survey.

Sleepseeker, a UK bedclothes manufacturer, calculates how many hours you sleep, the average number of hours you work in a year, the amount of time you spend online and the number of keyword searches related to sleep.

Singapore topped the list with a fatigue index of 7.20, followed by Mexico at 7.01 and Japan at 5.32, according to the survey.

Singapore is a bustling technology hub that has experienced rapid and widespread urbanisation, which is reflected in the busy lives of Singaporeans, leading to high levels of fatigue, the company said.

According to the survey, the average working time in Singapore is 2,238 hours per year or nearly 43 hours per person per week. Singapore ranked second out of 15 countries, followed by Mexico (2,255 hours), China (2,174 hours) and Japan (1,723 hours).

According to Sleepseeker, Singaporeans spend more than seven hours a day surfing the Web, ranking third out of 15 countries. All of these figures put Singapore in the top three, making it the most tiring country in the world.

Singaporeans working long hours is nothing new. A 2019 survey by US-BASED Internet of Things company Kisi found that Singaporeans were the second most overworked and the ninth-worst for work-life balance among 50 cities around the world.
