Flour prices have already been raised since January this year and now the knock-on effect of the war between Russia and Ukraine will lead to another price increase. The global supply of wheat is tight, which in turn is causing flour prices to follow suit.
According to information, the price of a 25kg flour will increase by RM7, while the wholesale price of a 10-pack 1kg flour is raised by RM2.50 sen, which means an average of 1 packet will go up by 25 sen.
Flour is needed to make bread, noodles, kueh teow, rice flour and biscuits, so the increase in the price of flour will directly lead to an increase in the price of these food items.
