Epic Games and LEGO have teamed up!Create a metaverse world that belongs to children!

When you think of the metaverse, you usually associate it with the “adult world”—full of luxury brands, NFT, and the magnification of ugly humanity—but is there a metaverse for kids?

Epic Games is planning to work with LEGO to create a metaverse for kids!

There are three unbreakable rules in the meta-universe.

According to an announcement on April 7, Epic Games and long-time partner LEGO intend to build a “virtual world” where children can play safely.

1. Put children’s well-being first.

2. safeguard children’s privacy

3. Give children and adults the tools they need to shape their own digital experiences.

Epic Games CEO and Founder Tim Sweeney said that the LEGO Group, which has been engaging countless children and adults through creative play for nearly a century, is excited about collaborating to create virtual worlds that create new and fun, exclusive design spaces for children and families.

Earlier, Tim had said he imagined the meta-universe as an online playground, a public space for people to interact with various brands and other users, where they could play multiplayer games, stream entertainment platforms, and other digital experiences, and switch seamlessly.

Although there is no universally accepted definition of “metaverse”, it is generally considered to be the next “evolution” of the web, opening up new routes for users to interact with brands and services in the virtual world.

Improving the competitiveness of the LEGO Sandbox model

In any case, no details have been revealed about how the new programme content and the LEGO brand will affect the Epic metaverse.

It is said that Epic, with the Unreal engine (Unreal) and rich experience in game development, will improve the LEGO sandbox mode with other competitors, including “Roblox,” “Minecraft,” and other platforms, to fight against the potential.

It is worth mentioning that Epic managed to earn over $9 billion in revenue in 2018-2019 with “Fortnite”.

In any case, the richer the metaverse world is, indeed, the better, and let’s hope that the children’s metaverse created by the two companies working together can really create harmless worlds for children.
