Dr Mahathir’s Pejuang is vying in Johor with Muda and Pakatan for 42 seats.

Former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s Parti Pejuang Tanah Air will face off against Pakatan Harapan parties and allies in all 42 seats in the Johor state election on March 12.

Pejuang will face off against DAP and Amanah in 17 seats and PKR and the PH-aligned Malaysian United Democratic Alliance (Muda) in the remaining seats, according to the party’s candidate list announced yesterday.

The federal Opposition includes all five parties, but Pejuang has stated that it will not work with the other four in Johor.

Pejuang will face off against Muda in all seven seats the party will contest. It will also face DAP in Tangkak and Paloh, which is being defended by its incumbent Sheikh Umar Bagharib Ali. Amanah will contest with Pejuang in 15 seats, including Kemelah, Bukit Pasir and Serom.

The Election Commission has set March 12 as polling day with early voting on March 8. Nomination day is set for February 26. Among those making their electoral debut for Pejuang are Nornekman Osman and Sharuddin Md Salleh. Former Johor DAP strategist Mahdzir Ibrahim is also among the 42 candidates announced by the party.

The Election Commission has scheduled election day for March 12 with early voting beginning on March 8. The deadline for nominations is February 26.
