While salt can make food taste better, it can also be a burden on your body. Here are some reasons why you always crave for salty food.

Stress
Stress or boredom can also lead to a desire to eat salty foods, as a little salt can have a temporary effect on your mood by asking our brain release the happy hormone dopamine, making you feel happy and healthy.

Exercise
When we sweat during exercise, we lose sodium from our bodies and if we exercise too much, we consume even more sodium. To restore our serum sodium levels, we need to use salt stored in our body, so we may want to eat salty foods or drink sports drinks to quickly restore i.

Dehydrated state
Dehydration makes it difficult for the body to function properly and this is when the body sends out signals to eat or drink something. This is especially true of pregnant women who often experience this phenomenon and often want to vomit, which can easily lead to a state of dehydration.

Pre-menstrual period
Some girls will crave salty foods before their period, especially those who suffer from premenstrual syndrome, which is a symptom of craving salty foods. But eat too much and the other symptoms of premenstrual syndrome will worsen. This is because consuming too much salt can stagnate water in the body, which in severe cases can lead to more symptoms.

People with health problems
Some people with health problems may also have a preference for salty foods, such as people who are overly tired, have muscle and joint pain, hair loss or low blood sugar, which can lead to a craving for salty foods.

It is the body’s need that makes people want to eat salty foods, but eating more salty foods does not help the body to become healthy but might become a burden on it, so a proper intake of salt is good for health.
