Sandakan dengue cases are increased 1k% compared to 2021.
According to Sandakan Health Officer Dr. Johari Awang Besar, the number of dengue cases in Sandakan has increased by 1,115% so far this year, compared to the same period last year.
Since January, a total of 863 instances have been reported, up from 71 cases during the same period last year. The number of outbreaks has also grown, up to 121 from six during the same period last year.
Six hotspots, namely Kampung Tinusa 2 Darat, Kampung Tinusa 2 Laut, Taman Indah Jaya Fasa 1, Taman Mawar Fasa 4, Kampung Bahagia, and Taman Damai, are among the 61 areas in Sandakan with current dengue cases.
Three deaths were reported, one each in the hotspot communities of Taman Sri Rimba, Kampung Tinusa 2 Laut, and Kampung Perpaduan. Failure of the authorities to enter premises to do inspections and conduct fogging owing to the absence of residents and complete closure of premises are among the failures to control the spread of the disease.
Residents of Sandakan should seriously consider the rise in dengue cases and work with the Health Department to get rid of mosquito breeding areas.
Residents should seek medical attention right away if they have a fever, joint problems, eye pain, lethargy, or fatigue for concern that dengue will harm their internal organs.The health authorities in Sandakan issued a four-day closure order for the city’s three primary bakeries in order to complete factory cleanup.
