If Covid-19 doesn’t disappear, then we are all waiting for the day when Covid-19 is not harmful. Vaccination is the most effective method at present.
Good news! There is a country that has made COVID-19 ordinary!
According to the Norwegian Institute of Public Health, coronavirus is no longer more dangerous than the influenza virus, so coronavirus is classified as a respiratory disease with the same risk as common influenza.
According to reports, the Norwegian Institute of Public Health (FHI) said that the coronavirus pandemic is not over yet, but has entered a new stage, which is equivalent to common respiratory diseases, such as influenza or respiratory infection.
This classification is mainly due to frequent mutation of coronavirus, which reduces its risk, and the natural and vaccine-induced immunity in Norwegian society has been enhanced. The unit attached to the Norwegian Ministry of Health reported that although the coronavirus continued to spread, it did not mean that the hospital stay was longer, that is, the epidemic no longer caused a heavy burden on Norway’s medical system, mainly because the vast majority of high-risk groups had been protected. Vaccinators may still be infected and have symptoms, but most of them will only have mild flu symptoms.
Therefore, after FHI evaluation, it is considered that coronavirus should be listed with other respiratory viruses such as common cold and seasonal influenza.
Viruses are more infectious but less deadly.
However, FHI also pointed out that the coronavirus pandemic is not over, it is still spreading all over the world, and the global vaccination rate is still very low. As long as it spreads outside rich countries, it will remain an epidemic. Only when there are fewer people in need of medical treatment among high-risk groups will the burden on the medical system be greatly reduced.
Another basic principle of FHI is that viruses almost always become more infectious as time goes by, but at the same time, they will also become less deadly.
The coronavirus has undergone thousands of mutations, and different variants have replaced each other in transmission speed and infection degree. However, time and time again, it has been proved that the virulence of the virus is getting lower. However, because this vaccine is not as resistant to new variants as the previous one, the virus still spreads among vaccinated people, even in countries where most people have already been vaccinated.
FHI concluded that the infection rate of coronavirus is decreasing, the number of critically ill patients is decreasing, and the number of death patients is very small. Therefore, it is “more and more correct” to think that coronavirus is no longer more dangerous than common influenza. In Norway, 90% of the population over 18 years old received a single dose of vaccine. 83% of the people have already taken two doses.
According to Norwegian authorities, in winter, hospitals will not be overwhelmed by coronavirus patients but will be able to treat the coronavirus patients as well as other respiratory tract infections and common influenza patients at the same time.
