05/12/2021

Children under the age of 12 are allowed to enter cinemas, a measure that has been in effect since December 4, 2021.

According to a message from the GSC and TGV cinema chains, children under 12 years of age may be admitted to cinemas with a parent or guardian, provided the parent or guardian has been vaccinated.

This measure has been in effect since December 4 and applies to all states in Malaysia that have entered Phase IV recovery, except Sarawak which is still in Phase III recovery. People are required to wear a mask throughout their stay in the cinema and must sit at a social distance from the cinema.

People are also allowed to buy food and drinks at the food counters in cinemas, although people are still encouraged to order food online and use cashless payments.

The government allowed cinemas to resume operations from September this year, when only people aged 18 or older who had completed their vaccinations were allowed to enter the cinema. Subsequently, in October, the government allowed young people aged 12 to 17 who had completed their vaccinations to enter cinemas.
