Car sales tax (SST) exemption period to December 31, 2021

27/10/2021

Car sales tax (SST) exemption period to December 31, 2021. It is not ruled out that the government will further extend the sales tax exemption benefit until 2022.

To stimulate the domestic car market, the government announced last year that locally assembled vehicles (CKD) would be exempt from 100% sales tax and imported vehicles (CBU) would be exempt from 50% sales tax. The government has already extended the sales tax exemption for 2 times.

Following the implementation of the sales tax exemption for automobiles,

Perodua car prices have been reduced by 3% to 6%,
Proton car prices have been reduced by 1.22% to 1.40%,
Honda car prices have been reduced by 3.4% to 4.9%,
Toyota car prices have been reduced by 1.3% to 5.7%.

If the government does not extend the sales tax exemption again, then the car will be adjusted back to its previous selling price. However, it is not ruled out that the government will announce another extension of the sales tax exemption until 2022.

If you are planning to buy a new car for transportation, you can start to deploy, prepare and act.
