Brand new LOGO! NOKIA changed its LOGO for the first time in half a century and became a commercial technology company!

01/03/2023

The technology company NOKIA, once the leader in mobile phones, announced its new logo and brand image on the 26th, showing that the company has entered a new field and embraced new growth opportunities! NOKIA’s new logo comprises five shapes of the five English letters “NOKIA”. The blue background of the old logo is also replaced with a series of new colours.

As the world’s second-largest telecommunications equipment manufacturer, NOKIA announced during the World Mobile Communications Conference held in Barcelona a few days ago that it would refresh its corporate identity to reshape the impression of previous mobile phone manufacturers and matches the company’s focus on aggressive growth goals.

As can be seen from the picture, NOKIA’s new logo consists of five different shapes to form the word “NOKIA”. Additionally, the iconic blue undertones of the old logo have been replaced with various colours. In this regard, NOKIA CEO Pekka Lundmark said that the old logo was related to smartphones. However, NOKIA is a commercial technology company concerned with network and industrial digitalization, entirely different from traditional mobile phones.

Along with the brand’s renewal, NOKIA announced an updated corporate strategy. As early as 2020, when Pekka Lundmark became CEO of NOKIA, he formulated a three-phase strategy: ResetAccelerate and Scale. With the Reset Phase now complete, Pekka Lundmark said the second phase is starting. While NOKIA still aims to develop the service provider business, that is, selling equipment to telecom companies, its main focus is now on selling equipment to other businesses.

Headquartered in Espoo, Finland, NOKIA is a multinational company mainly producing mobile communication equipment and services. Founded in 1865, NOKIA was engaged primarily in logging and papermaking. Later, it also successively had products such as rubber shoes, tires, cables, mobile phones, personal communication equipment and health equipment.

NOKIA mobile phones used to dominate the mobile phone industry in the 2G feature phones era. In 2008, NOKIA’s global mobile phone sales reached 468 million units, accounting for 38.6% of the worldwide market share. This kind of data is unimaginable in the current mobile phone market. The NOKIA 1110, launched more than ten years ago, still occupies the first place in the mobile phone sales list, with 250 million units sold. However, due to various reasons in the later period, NOKIA’s mobile phone business finally declined. NOKIA’s core business is mainly based on primary communication business and advanced technology research and development and authorization.
