Attention! Babies born last year and this January need to report their births by February 1, late reporting will result in fines!
According to the information issued by the National Registration Office (JPN), all babies born from January 18, 2021 to January 2022 will need to be reported by February 1, 2022. Parents of newborns born after the deadline will be fined.
Last year, when our country implemented the movement control order (PKP), the National Registration Office announced that parents of newborns could delay reporting their births and be exempt from fines. However, as states across the country have entered the fourth stage of recovery, the National Registry has announced that parents of newborns must report their children on time.
Parents can report their child directly to the National Registry counter without first making an appointment online. Parents will be required to pay a fine if they are late in enrolling their child.
Parents in West Malaysia need to report the birth of their newborn within 60 days of the birth, otherwise they will have to pay a fine of RM50. For East Malaysia, the prospective parents need to report the birth within 15 days of the birth of the newborn baby, those who report the birth within 15 to 42 days of birth will have to pay RM5 fine and those who report the birth after 42 days will have to pay RM10.
