According to the news from Shopee, Shopee will introduce a new merchant shipping policy from June 17, 2024, and merchants will be required to ship their products within the shortest possible time. This is good for consumers, but disastrous for merchants.
All orders paid before 2pm must be shipped by merchants within 1 business day. For orders paid after 2 p.m., merchants must ship the order within 2 business days, and Shopee explains what “shipping” means, which means that at least one courier scanning process must take place.
Additionally, Shopee is making it more demanding for Preferred, Preferred+ and Mall merchants that Saturdays will be listed as a Working Day. Merchants must include Saturdays as a working day, so they will have to include Saturdays when calculating the number of days to ship.
Shopee also gave an example to make it easier for customers and merchants to understand.
Before June 17, a customer places an order on Thursday, June 6 at 3 p.m., and the merchant must ship the order by Monday, June 10 at 11:59 p.m. for the order to be counted as shipped on time.
After June 17, customers placing an order on Thursday, June 6 at 3 p.m. must be shipped by the merchant on Saturday, June 8 at 11:59 p.m. to be considered on time. If the customer does not ship the order until Monday, June 10, then this is considered a delayed shipment.
To allow merchants to adjust to the new shipping schedule, Shopee has also increased the percentage of late shipment rate (LSR) from 5% to 10%.
