ASM 2 Wawasan to announce latest dividend in late August.

01/08/2022

Amanah Saham Malaysia 2 Wawasan or ASM2 Wawasan is a fund of the National Trust (ASNB), a subsidiary of the National Investment Board (PNB), and will announce its latest dividend payout at the end of August each year.

ASM 2 Wawasan has maintained a dividend of 4 cents for 2 years in a row, what will this year’s dividend be? The general expectation is that this year’s payout will probably remain at 4 sen as well, and in the worst case scenario, it will be around 3.75 sen.

ASM 2 Wawasan invests over 80% of its capital in the stock market, less than 2% in ETFs, about 10% in fixed income instruments and 5.67% in other sectors. The top 10 listed companies in ASM 2 Wawasan are Maybank, CIMB, Tenaga, Sime Darby, Public Bank, Petronas Chemicals, Axiata, Petronas Gas, Telekom and Maxis.

Kuala Lumpur’s FTSE General Index (KLCI) nearly fell below the 1,400-point barrier in July, but has recently stabilised and is gradually moving towards the 1,500-point barrier. Although the KLCI is still at its recent lows, bank stocks such as Maybank, Public Bank and CIMB are doing well against the backdrop of global interest rate hikes, so the ASM 2 Wawasan dividend payout this year is not too pessimistic.

ASM2 Wawasan paid a dividend of 4 sen in 2021 and 2020, 5 sen in 2019, 6 sen per unit in 2018 and 2017 and 6.3 sen per unit in 2016, gradually reducing the payout rate each year.

ASM2 Wawasan will automatically reinvest the interest into the fund after the dividend is announced and the units will be transferred to the holder’s account on 1 September.

ASM2 Wawasan is a trust fund available for Chinese to purchase at a fixed price of RM1 per unit.
