Apec has Palestine in mind.

09/11/2023

According to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Malaysia will bring up the subject of Israeli aggression against the Palestinians during the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (Apec) Leaders’ Week in the United States in 2023. He claimed that since Malaysia backed the Palestinian people in their quest for their own country, it was its duty to take this action. Anwar did not, however, go into detail about the specifics of the Palestine-related issue that would be brought up at Apec. After the International Palm Oil Congress and Exhibition 2023 (Pipoc 2023) was officially opened here by the Malaysian Palm Oil Board, he made this statement to the media yesterday.
“We prioritise maintaining diplomatic relations while remaining steadfast in our support of justice, even though we disagree with the United States’ position on the Israel-Palestine conflict.” From November 11–17, Apec Leaders’ Week will take place in San Francisco. The 21 economies that make up Apec, a regional economic forum founded in 1989 to capitalise on the increasing interdependence of the Asia-Pacific region, account for nearly 40% of the world’s population, nearly 50% of global trade, and more than 60% of US goods exports. Australia, Brunei, Canada, Chile, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Peru, the Philippines, Russia, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, the United States, and Vietnam are among the 21 economies that make up Apec.
