Air Selangor will increase water tariffs from August and only non-household customers will be affected!
According to a release from Air Selangor, water tariffs for non-household customers and special customers in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya will be increased by an average of 20 sen per square meter from August 1.
The affected customers include non-household customers, government departments, places of worship and vessels. Water charges for domestic customers, charitable organizations, condominiums, government quarters, government properties and low-cost units will remain unchanged and will not be affected.
Water rates in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya were last adjusted in 2006, which means they have remained unchanged for 16 years.
Air Selangor noted that the tariff increase is based on the change in time and the current economic needs, and that the tariff adjustment will support economic development.
The water rate increase may give businesses and factories an excuse to raise the price of goods.
