Air Selangor to increase water rate from August, only non-household consumers will be affected!

28/07/2022

According to a release from Air Selangor, water charges for non-household and special consumers in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya will be increased by an average of 20 sen per square metre from 1 August.

The affected consumers include non-household consumers, government departments, places of worship and vessels. Water charges for domestic consumers, charitable organisations, condominiums, government quarters, government properties and low-cost units will remain unchanged and will not be affected.

Water rates in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya were last adjusted in 2006, which means they have remained unchanged for 16 years.

Air Selangor said that the increase in water charges was in line with the changes in time and the current economic needs, and that the adjustment of water charges would support economic development.

The increase in water charges may give businesses and factories an excuse to increase the price of goods.
