The price of a standard chicken in KL will soon drop to RM8/kg.
According to Federal Territories Minister Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim, standard chicken would soon be sold in KL for RM8 per kg instead of the current RM8.90.
He said that once Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) through the ministry (KWP) granted rental reductions on commercial properties controlled by the local authority, the pricing level could be put into effect.
By offering flexible leasing terms on DBKL company premises, they will lower the cost of chicken in Kuala Lumpur from the current RM8.90/kg to RM8 per kg. In order to enable them to cut the price of chicken and other things, they will offer free leasing on certain sites if lowering the rent is still insufficient.
According to Shahidan, the cost of regular chicken in Putrajaya will also be lowered in the following two weeks to under RM8 per kg from its present price of RM8.50.
On July 21, Shahidan declared that chicken pricing in Putrajaya would start at RM8.50 per kg on August 1—a significant discount from the RM9.40 per kg retail ceiling.
