A planned water service outage on December 21 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. is expected to affect about 9,000 customers in various regions of Air Itam in order to connect diverted water pipes. Penang Water Supply Corporation Sdn Bhd (PBAPP) chief executive officer K. Pathmanathan stated in a statement on Friday (Dec 15) that “the connection works are needed because of the construction of the Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu to Air Itam flyover project by the state.” The intersections of Lebuhraya Thean Teik/Farlim Market and Lebuhraya Thean Teik/Lintang Angsana, he claimed, will be impacted. “PBAPP must temporarily close a 600mm mild steel pipeline in the vicinity to enable the pipe connection activities. “A 12-hour planned supply outage along Lebuhraya Thean Teik and surrounding areas in Air Itam will result from this pipeline stoppage. “PBAPP apologises for the inconvenience caused by this scheduled interruption.” He suggested that people prepare ahead of time by storing adequate water for their needs.
