A few steps to wash the clothes of patients with Covid-19

The pandemic of Covid-19 in Malaysia is getting worse and worse, and many people’s family members are unfortunately recruited. Do you know how to wash the clothes of patients?

If you have a COVID-19 patient or suspected patient in your home, it is important that you follow standard operating procedures when washing the patient’s clothes to avoid infecting the virus.

According to the detailed steps for washing patients’ clothes issued by the Ministry of Health Malaysia (KKM), the clothes must be placed in a sealed bag before washing the patient’s clothes.

Always wear a mask and disposable gloves when washing clothes. The Ministry of Health recommends soaking clothes in hot water (60 to 90 degrees Celsius).

The most important thing is to use a laundry detergent that can kill bacteria.

 

Detailed steps to wash the patient’s clothing

  1. Put the patient’s clothing in a sealed bag until it is time to wash the clothing.
  2. Do not put the patient’s clothes together with family members’ clothes.
  3. Always wear a mask and disposable gloves when washing the patient’s clothes.
  4. Do not shake a patient’s clothes when handling them to avoid spreading the virus into the air.
  5. Wash the patient’s clothes with water and detergent.
  6. It is recommended that the patient’s clothing be washed with hot water ranging from 60 to 90 degrees Celsius.
  7. After washing clothes, discard disposable gloves and wash hands with disinfectant.
  8. Then, drying the victim’s clothes in the sun.
  9. Last, wash your hands.
