At Batu 54, Blue Valley, Cameron Highlands, a landslip occurred early on Friday, January 26, killing one man and possibly burying four more.
Ismail Abdul Ghani, assistant director of operations for the Pahang Fire and Rescue Department, reported that the agency got a distress call at 2.51 in the morning and that the search and rescue effort is still in progress.
Three adult males and one adult woman are reportedly still buried beneath the landslip, according to preliminary reports. But we still don’t know who they are,” he stated in a statement on Friday.
According to Ismail, the nine firefighters who were first sent to the scene in a hurry had to trek almost 3 km to reach the site of the landslip.
Concurrently, the District Disaster Management Committee announced that the five landslip victims were, indeed, citizens of Myanmar.
