Notice! Seven roads in Selangor and Selangor will be closed in phases for up to seven days.
According to information from the Selangor Police, in order to allow the Thaipusam celebration to be held smoothly, the Selangor and Selangor Police will conduct phased road closures on 7 roads from January 22 to 28, 2024. People are urged to change driving routes.
Thaipusam in 2024 falls on January 25. Thaipusam is a festival of Hindus. Every year during Thaipusam there is a procession with devotees carrying jugs of milk and wooden needle base Kavadi.
Some devotees pierce their tongues with steel needles and carry wooden kavadis decorated with flowers and peacock feathers and balanced on their shoulders. Other devotees carry kavadis with iron spikes that require careful preparation.
The roads that were closed due to the parade are as follows:
1. Simpang Tiga Jalan Bunga Raya menghala ke Jalan Batu Caves
2. Lampu Isyarat Jalan Station (Batu Caves Bypass)
3. Susur dari arah Bulatan Batu Caves (MRR2) ke Kuil Batu Caves
4. Jalan Perusahaan ke Kuil Batu Caves
5. Susur MRR2 dari Sri Gombak ke Kuil Batu Caves
6. Simpang tiga Jalan SBC 8 / Jalan Batu Caves Lama
7. Simpang Tiga Lampu Isyarat Sri Batu Caves (SBC) hadapan Stesen Minyak Shell
