PM wishes the Tamil community Ponggal.
Ponggal greetings from Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to Malaysia’s Tamil community, which is celebrating the festival today.
Anwar hopes that the festival will bring everyone prosperity and health.
According to a post on his Facebook page, the Tamil community celebrates the Ponggal festival to express gratitude for increased sustenance. Furthermore, for Hindus, this auspicious day serves as a symbol and catalyst for rejecting old practises or attitudes in order to promote change and create a new shift.
The arrival of the Ponggal harvest festival in the 10th month of the Tamil calendar known as Thai is a significant festival, particularly for the farming community.
