Zambry will host Singapore FM.

Malaysia’s Foreign Minister, Zambry Abdul Kadir, will host his Singaporean counterpart, Vivian Balakrishnan, who will be in Malaysia for four days from Sunday (Jan 15) to Wednesday (Jan 18).

According to a statement from the Foreign Ministry (Wisma Putra), Zambry will be receiving his first ministerial-level visit since taking office on December 2 of last year.

The visit is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen Malaysia-Singapore ties. His Excellency Dr Vivian Balakrishnan’s visit will provide an excellent opportunity for Malaysia and Singapore to strengthen their long-standing relations and multifaceted cooperation.

Both ministers are scheduled to meet and exchange views on a wide range of issues of mutual interest during their visit. Balakrishnan will also meet with Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah.

According to a Bernama report on Saturday based on a statement from Singapore’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), Balakrishnan is also scheduled to meet with Malaysian Ministers of Transport Anthony Loke, Economy Rafizi Ramli, Defence Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan, Natural Resources, Environment and Climate Change Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad, and other Malaysian politicians and personalities.

According to the report, Balakrishnan will be accompanied by officials from the Republic’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Singapore was Malaysia’s second-largest trading partner and the largest within Asean in 2022, with total trade totaling RM336.73 billion (US$76.40 billion), a 30.8 percent increase over the previous year.
