After keeping their relationship between them a secret for four months, Lee Jong-Suk, 33, and IU, 29, finally came clean about their feelings for one another on the 31st of December, 2022, when it was discovered that they had spent Christmas in Japan together.
Lee Jong-Suk and IU co-hosted the music show “Popular Ballads” on the Korean television channel SBS in 2012; by that time, he had already established a love for her. He stated, “Everyone ought to be startled to see the story…… the friend in the news, we were bonded in our mid-20s and had prioritised being friends over lovers for a long time, until now.”
Lee Jong-Suk said that IU is “a friend who occupies a corner of my heart and is not normal,” just like Kang Dan-i, the female lead in “Romance is an appendix,” in which he starred, and a friend he has known and cared about for a long time. He said that IU is a friend he wants to keep and that she has made him want to be a better person.
In a post on her website, IU also said, “Yes, I am in a relationship. She said that the relationship got out even though she had been “very careful.”
She said, “I’m dating a coworker I’ve known for a long time and have a crush on. I’m glad he’s been there for me for so long, always telling me “that’s so cool and handsome” and being a steady, friendly person who encourages me.
IU also said that a “good friend who always says nice things about me” is one of the things that keeps her going. She told her fans she was sorry that “scared everyone,” but she also promised not to scare them again and to “keep dating.”
