A Terengganu woman losted RM4M in a Raya investment plan to ‘Datin Ida’.
A woman claims she was deceived into joining an online Hari Raya investment scam by a person known as ‘Datin Ida,’ which resulted in a total loss of roughly RM4 million.
The woman, 31, filed a police report on May 6 after not receiving any promised returns within the time frame set by Datin Ida after the transaction was made, according to Terengganu Commercial Crimes Investigation Department chief Supt M. Zambri Mahmud.
He claimed the complainant was offered RM55,000 in profit in three days for RM30,000 invested.
The complainant made a RM100,000 investment a week before Hari Raya and publicised it in a Whatsapp group at the same time. Many people were interested in joining the investment programme, and 296 people did so, with the complainant’s downline investing roughly RM4 million.
According to M. Zambri, the complainant sent the full sum gathered to investment management via an account set up by Datin Ida, but she has yet to receive any returns on the money invested, and she feels defrauded as a result.
He said the case is being probed for deceit under Section 420 of the Penal Code, and he warned the public not to be fooled by investment offers that promised huge profits in a short period of time.
