First heat wave in 3 areas of the country!
According to the Meteorological Department, three areas in the West Malaysia Peninsula have experienced a heatwave of the first magnitude. The temperature will be between 35 and 37 degrees Celsius for three consecutive days. People are urged to drink more water and reduce outdoor activities.
The areas where the first heatwave occurred include Batang Padang in Perak, Kuala Selangor and Kuala Lumpur.
The Meteorological Department classifies heat waves into three levels: Level 1 Caution, Level 2 Quasi-Heat Wave, and Level 3 Super Heat Wave. An area is classified as a Level 1 heatwave when it experiences temperatures of 35 degrees Celsius to 37 degrees Celsius for 3 consecutive days.
As for when an area has a temperature of 37 degrees Celsius to 40 degrees Celsius for 3 consecutive days, the area will be classified as the second level of the quasi-heat wave. When an area experiences temperatures exceeding 40 degrees Celsius for three straight days, the area will be classified as a super heatwave.
The Bureau of Meteorology said it will continue to monitor the weather conditions in the country and will issue heatwave warnings immediately.
