The number of new Covid-19 cases has dropped to 5,624, with 9 deaths.
In the last 24 hours, the Health Ministry reported 5,624 new Covid-19 infections, a little drop from the 6,342 cases reported yesterday.
According to Health Director-General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, the total number of infections has risen to 4,427,067 since Covid-19 came in the country in 2020.
The number of patients who died from the coronavirus also decreased slightly, from 12 on Saturday to nine on Sunday. Two of today’s fresh victims died before arriving at hospitals.
Since the commencement of the pandemic, 335,491 people have died as a result of the coronavirus.
The latest number of persons who have recovered is 10,041, bringing the total number of cases recovered to 4,310,599.
Only 24 cases, or 0.43 percent of those recorded today, were in Categories 3, 4, and 5, requiring hospitalisation, according to Dr. Noor Hisham. The rest of the new instances, he claimed, simply had minor symptoms.
There are now 89 patients in intensive care units (ICUs) being treated for Covid-19, with 34 of them being suspected, probable, or under investigation.
According to Noor Hisham, 57 of the 89 need ventilators to help them breathe, including 35 who have been verified as Covid-19 positive.
He went on to say that no state is currently using more than half of their ICU bed capacity.
He also stated that no state’s capacity for non-ICU beds and quarantine centres exceeds 50%.
According to Dr. Noor Hisham, the number of Covid-19 patients in need of respiratory assistance has dropped to 57.
Overall, he noted, the current percentage of patients who require a ventilator is 8% for both Covid-19 and non-Covid-19 individuals.
In the last 24 hours, the Health Ministry found one new Covid-19 cluster, according to Dr. Noor Hisham.
The addition of the newest cluster brings the total number of active clusters in the country to 99.
