5 types of traffic violations to be resolved in court!

18/04/2022

The Ministry of Transport will launch the Eid road safety campaign from April 29 to May 8, 2022!

According to a message from Transport Minister Wee Ka Siong, there are five major traffic violations that often occur around the festive season, namely misuse of emergency lanes, using cell phones while driving, disobeying traffic lights, speeding and double-lane passing. All of these violations must be addressed in court.

In addition, the Ministry of Transport has also banned heavy vehicles from the roads during the three days before Eid (April 30 to May 2) and the two days after (May 7 and 8). This is to reduce the problem of traffic congestion.

Around the festive season, there are long lines of traffic on all thoroughfares in the country, and this is also the season when the rate of car accidents is the highest. In order to reduce the incidence of traffic accidents, the speed limit on federal highways and interstate highways will be reduced. The speed limit will be 80 miles per hour on federal highways and 70 miles per hour on interstates.

The public is urged to drive carefully.
