The Malaysian government announced earlier that Malaysia will reopen its national border from April 1 and people will be able to enter and leave the country freely. The Minister of Health also held a press conference on Thursday (March 24) to announce the SOP for reopening the country’s borders.

As the reopening date draws nearer, the Lembaga Hasil Dalam Negeri  Malaysia (LHDN) recently held a “My Money and Me” financial planning online work camp to remind people that “all people who owe income tax and CKHT will be banned from leaving the country. “

With the reopening of the country on April 1, I believe many people have already planned to go abroad for a vacation or some company directors are preparing to go abroad for business, said the speaker of the workcamp, Duval Baduce. Therefore, the Inland Revenue Department reminded them that they must pay the said taxes.

If people do not pay the tax, the authorities will invoke Article 104 of the Income Tax Act 1967 and other relevant laws to prohibit them from leaving the country.

In addition, Dewa Baduce suggested that people can visit the official website of the Immigration Department to find out if they owe tax. People can enter their personal ID number on the official website, click on SEMAK, and if “Tiada Halangan” appears, it means there is no outstanding tax and they are allowed to leave the country.
