The Selangor local government will abolish the paper parking book and replace it with electronic payment of parking fees from January 3, 2022.
According to the Selangor State Government, all car owners who park their cars in public parking spaces under the jurisdiction of the Selangor Local Government will be required to pay through the Smart Selangor Parking APP. This measure will be implemented from January 3, 2022.
To prevent people from hogging parking spaces in busy commercial areas, local governments in Selangor have the option to set parking time limits and adjust parking fees in busy commercial areas (Hot Zones). After a specific number of hours of parking, the car owner cannot renew the parking fee.
Instead, the vehicle must be removed from the area.
The system will automatically calculate and deduct your parking fee by entering your license plate number in advance and the parking time when you arrive at the parking lot.
Apart from using the Smart Selangor Parking APP, the Touch ‘n Go eWallet can also be used to pay for parking at various locations in Selangor.
For those who do not have a smartphone, they can go to the agent selling the parking book and provide their license plate number and ask them to pay the parking fee electronically.
