How to check on the battery health of your laptop in Windows 10?
Laptops nowadays use built-in batteries, which cannot be replaced easily. If you want to replace the battery, you must open the back cover of the laptop.
Windows 10 provides a battery health report function, allowing users to understand the battery health status of their laptops. You only need to use some simple commands to generate an HTML file, which will clearly show the battery usage, capacity history, life expectancy, and so on.
In this report, there is a Battery capacity history column. Full Charge Capacity is the battery capacity when your computer is fully charged, and Design Capacity is the battery capacity when the battery leaves the factory. If you find that the Full Charge Capacity is much lower than Design Capacity, then your battery is malfunctioning.
Step 1: Search for CMD on the laptop, and right-click Run as Administrator.
Step 2: Paste powercfg /batteryreport /output “C:\battery-report.html” and Enter.
Step 3: You will receive a response from the Battery life report saved to C:\battery-report.html.
Step 4: Open the C drive of the laptop and find a file named battery-report.
Step 5: Open battery-report.
Step 6: There is a Battery capacity history column in the file, you can check Full Charge Capacity and Design Capacity.
Step 7: If the Full Charge Capacity is much lower than the Design Capacity, then your battery is malfunctioning.
