YouTube’s new service [Channel Store] follows Apple TV’s ?

15/08/2022

According to the Wall Street Journal, Alphabet Inc’s YouTube plans to launch a new service by the end of the year that will allow users to watch content from other platforms directly through YouTube.

The new service, called Channel Store, is modeled after Apple TV or Amazon Prime Video, allowing users to watch content from other platforms directly through YouTube without having to download a separate app for the streaming platform.

In simple terms, consumers can watch content from HBO, AMC+, Showtime and other platforms by simply subscribing to YouTube through the Channel Store. According to the report, YouTube’s proposal is designed to make it easier for users and add more content to watch.

In addition, users can watch a show or movie trailer for free on YouTube before deciding to pay for a subscription. Since most consumers today are no longer using cable TV to watch shows and are instead using subscription streaming services, if the Channel Store is officially launched, it can only be said that everyone in the streaming market will get a piece of the action.
