According to local media reports, two toll stations are being built in Genting. Once the toll stations are operational, people will have to pay tolls when driving up to Genting, but will not have to pay when going down the mountain.
The two toll stations under construction are the section from Batang Kali to Genting Gohtong Jaya, and the section from Genting Mid-Levels.
It is generally expected that the toll station will be put into operation in June 2024, and the toll fee may be between RM2.50 and RM3.50. The tolls will be used to repair roads and repair landslide areas.
In recent years, road damage and landslides have occurred frequently in the Genting section. If the tolls can be used to upgrade roads and scenic spots, I believe many people will still be willing to pay the tolls.
