From 2023, you may have to pay a 300 baht entry fee to enter Thailand!
According to a message from Thailand’s Minister of Tourism and Sports, Pippa, Thailand is planning to impose an entry fee on tourists entering Thailand, which could be 300 THB (about RM37) for those entering Thailand by air, and also for those entering Thailand by land.
The Thai government has not yet finalized the implementation of the entry fee, but it is expected that the measure will only be effective for foreigners, while Thais will be exempted from paying the fee.
The Thai government was to implement the entry fee in 2022, but the epidemic has already hit the tourism industry, so the implementation of the entry fee has been postponed.
According to the Thai government, the entry fee will ensure that the Thai government and related businesses can take better care of tourists, and Thailand spent 300 to 400 million baht on security between 2017 and 2019.
