29/08/2021

Sunway’s four shopping malls will only allow unvaccinated people to enter from Sept 15, and it is believed that shopping malls across the country will follow suit. Do you agree to similar restrictions in shopping centres?

According to a statement issued by Sunway, four Sunway malls in Selangor and KL, namely Sunway Pyramid, Sunway Velocity, Sunway Putra and Sunway Giza, will restrict access to shopping malls from September 15, Only those who have completed vaccination will be allowed to enter the shopping centre.

Those who have not yet been vaccinated will be avoid from entering the mall, although exemptions will be granted to those who cannot be vaccinated for medical reasons.

As of August 27, 61.1% of adults in Malaysia had completed two doses of the vaccine, with vaccination rates exceeding 75% in Labuan, Klang Valley, Sarawak and Negeri Sembilan. The states with the lowest vaccination rates were Sabah, Kedah, Kelantan and Johor.

In early August, the government began to introduce convenience measures for those who have completed vaccination, such as being allowed to dine-in, travel across counties and have their hair cut. Facilitation measures introduced by the government and shopping centres will help to accelerate the registration of people for vaccination.
