You can be fined RM300 for overtaking in the double-lined road!

Attention all drivers! For your safety, do not overtake on double-lined road as this will not only endanger your life and the lives of other road users, but will also earn you a RM300 traffic ticket.

According to the Malaysian Road Safety Authority (JKJR), any driver who overtakes on a double-lined road will be fined RM300, and we all know that you should not overtake on a double-lined road, but many drivers still ignore it.

Usually there are double lines on bends, slopes, narrow roads and up and down hills, which means that road users are warned not to overtake. If you overtake on these roads then you may be exposed to unknown risks.

If you cause the death of another person through reckless driving, you can be imprisoned for 2 to 10 years, fined RM5000 to RM20,000 and have your driving licence revoked.
